What Is Optimization Score?

Definition

Optimization Score is Google's estimate of how well a Google Ads account or campaign is set up to perform, expressed from 0% to 100%.

How Optimization Score Works

The score is based on active recommendations and their estimated score impact. Applying or dismissing recommendations changes the displayed score.

A Simple Example

Google may recommend broader keywords, a different bid strategy or more assets, each with an estimated number of percentage points.

Why Optimization Score Matters

It can surface settings and opportunities worth reviewing, especially across large accounts.

Common Misreading

A 100% score does not prove the account is profitable or well managed. Recommendations reflect Google's models and may conflict with margin, lead quality or incrementality goals.
